Our Mission

Pistols Boxing Academy is a competitive boxing club affiliated to England Boxing, based in Oadby. We provide access to the olympic pathway for ambitious local boxers in Leicester and Leicestershire.

We are more than just a boxing club. Our mission is to transform lives through inclusive boxing, fostering discipline, resilience, and respect. In addition to our competitive boxing squad, we deliver weekly classes and targeted interventions for at-risk youth. Our aim is to improve life chances and emotional regulation while reducing risky behaviours and building positive community contributors.

Our Competitive Boxing Squad

We train three times a week and we are open to anyone from the ages of 10 to 37 who wishes to box. Our sessions are Monday's 6pm to 8pm, Wednesday's 7.15pm to 8.30pm, and Saturdays 9.00-10.00am.

In our first season our boxers won 80% of their bouts. Our boxers reach the regional final and the national semi final. Also one of our boxers also won a regional challenge belt.

We are diverse and friendly club who support each other to meet our goals, simply get in touch or come on down!

Our Youth Intervention Projects

We are always seeking to work with young people at risk of being involved in crime.  Our research shows that the highest vulnerability group includes young people engaged with social services or in care. The risk of a criminal conviction increases with social care intervention:

  • No contact: 6% risk
  • Referred to social care: 18% risk
  • Child in Need (CiN): 22% risk
  • Child Protection Plan (CPP): 28% risk
  • Child Looked After (CLA): 37% risk.

Following a successful pilot scheme, this year we are planning to run our “Box-RR” (Reducing Risk) project.

Our specialist workers will be delivering weekly 1-2-1 boxing and mentoring sessions; and small group sessions to anyone who meets the following criteria:

  • Aged 14-21.
  • Known to social services, in care, or care leavers.
  • Subject to a DOLLS order or child protection plan.
  • Was a victims of crime, or experienced police intervention as a perpetrator.

We are now recruiting for this project, if you or someone you know would like to take part please use the referral form below.
